Brainstorming the Next Steps for Stop 114A
On July 12, 2012 the Centre for Independent Journalism hosted a general meeting to further discuss the amendments to the Evidence Act. The goal of the meeting was to discuss the next moves in responding to the amendments, especially with the profound interest in “doing more” that many people expressed at the public forum held in June.
CIJ, who has been spearheading actions against this amendment, was looking for more ideas and contributions. The results at the end of the meeting consisted of an agreement to proceed with an Internet blackout in order to raise more awareness. The project is not as threatening as it sounds and will simply consist of a grey screen that pops up before entering a website that encourages people to learn more and take action against the amendment. This project is currently underway; if anyone is interested in finding out more or participating please contact CIJ at firstname.lastname@example.org.
